K12 Handhelds offers a variety of professional development opportunities on a variety of topics including:

They types of professional development we offer include on-site workshops, conference workshops, in-classroom coaching and mentoring, awareness sessions and online offerings.

These workshops and courses start with an introduction for beginners and then build to more advanced courses that focus on integrating these technologies into the classroom with students. All of our courses focus specifically on the needs of K-12 educators.

On-site Workshops

We provide a variety of on-site workshops on technology integration. These include introductory workshops that cover a variety of planning issues, give an in-depth training on basics, and introduce participants to a variety of educational applications.

Our more advanced workshops focus on specific applications for administrators, teachers, and students and are tailored to the grade level and subject areas of most relevance to you.

All of our workshops focus on the needs of K-12 educators and are very interactive and hands-on. We customize the content so that you get the most value and provide a variety of printed and web materials that participants can retain for reference.

In-Classroom Coaching and Mentoring

While traditional group workshops are effective for learning basic technology integration skills, one-on-one coaching and mentoring is more effective for fostering advanced integration skills.

K12 Handhelds will work in the classroom with your teachers on topics, skills, and lessons of their choosing. Often this process begins with K12 Handhelds facilitators teaching model lessons and then moves into co-teaching lessons and finally to a support role. Tailoring this process to each teacher's individual needs leads to a much greater comfort level and to more effective integration.

In conjunction with this, K12 Handhelds can also provide custom curriculum development. As a part of this, we develop lesson plans, interactive ebooks, games, movies, and more that support curriculum standards and skills specified by your teachers and curriculum coaches.

Awareness Informational Sessions

We make presentations to a variety of groups interested in handhelds in education. These sessions are not intended to provide in-depth training, but rather to give participants an overview of what is possible with handhelds used in an educational setting. If you are interested in an awareness session for your school, your educational service agency, a conference, or some other event, contact us!

Online and Blended Learning

Online resources are an important part of all of our professional development offerings, whether it’s a wiki to supplement a face-to-face workshop or a full online professional development offering.

We can provide online or blended professional development on a variety of topics, in platforms like Moodle, Blackboard, and others, and in combination with webinars.

There are also free online professional development opportunities available through the P2PU School of Ed. These can be customized or combined with on-site workshops to create a blended learning experience for your teachers.
