Thursday, June 25th, 2009Our national parks are a great treasure. There are over 390 national park areas in 49 states and five territories. Summer is a great time to visit our national parks, and the National Park Service has made this even easier by waiving fees the weekends of July 18-19 and August 15-16.
The national parks offer recreational opportunities for everyone — from scenic drives and enjoyable picnics to strenuous hiking and backwoods camping.
I hope you have an opportunity to visit a national park this summer. And thank you to all the men and women who work for the national park service.
