Thanks for the message. That's great.

On Limewire, my understanding is that the tool itself is legal and can be used for legal uses. HOWEVER, many people use it for illegal purposes like sharing copyrighted music. That's a real issue with tools -- they can be used many ways and the legality or ethics relies on the users.

Good luck with your future work with these issues. (If you haven't seen it, my site on this is www.k12opened.com.)

Karen, I found your ppt on slideshare and that led me to your blog. I too, today had a lesson about ppt, fair use, and cc, with 1/2 of the 8th graders at my school. I was wishing by the end of the day that we had not tackled so much for one setting. They were really interested! So much more than the teachers were on their copyright training day! lol Anyway, as you know, music was the biggest selling point or question they had. They asked about Limewire and I didn't know anything other than the name. I had assumed since the whole Napster thing that this was taken care of, but maybe not. We wondered if maybe Limewire was based in another country and that was how they were sharing music. ? Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your ppt. and your post. I am going to use it and show them how the CC-BY license works.
