We believe in the power of community to advance learning and have developed and facilitated successful communities, both online and offline. Our work in this area includes:

  • CLMOOC is an annual online collaboration in which participants experience connected learning in a context of making things together. As a part of this work, we also developed, manage, and maintain the CLMOOC Make Bank, which is fueled by user-developed content.
  • The Kids Open Dictionary is a free, open simple dictionary for anyone to use. This labor of love is being collaboratively developed by a community of folks. It has over 10,000 words currently defined and has been used by a variety of developers of games, web sites, instructional resources, and apps.
  • We started a local seed library that has turned into a rich learning community.
  • The Peer 2 Peer University School of Education was founded by Karen Fasimpaur to bring a model of open, community-based peer learning to professional learning for K-12 teachers.
